Balenciaga Launch Florabotanica: As Worn by Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart has been in the news recently, but for all the wrong reasons. After her admission of a secret affair which went on to destroy her relationship with British actor Robert Pattinson, her co star of the Twilight series of films, she has been vilified in the media as the scarlet woman and the next Angelina Jolie! With her ex love Rob moving out of their shared home, you’d think she’d try and stay under the radar for a while, in the hopes that the fickle press might give her a break and hound some other poor starlet. But that’s not Kristen’s way of doing things and it seems that fragrance giants Balenciaga agree!

Heading up their campaign with a tag line – ‘Beautiful but Dangerous’ appears to completely capture Kristen’s personality as she was quoted in the media as saying that she likes to feel scared and lose control sometimes. Talking to Little White Lies magazine Kristen said, “I just really am trying, trying, all the time. But I like to be scared. I love to suddenly feel out of control.” She added, “Actors walk around wearing these little tool-belts of acting skills. And I just don’t find that interesting to watch. I never want to see someone who clearly can cry at the drop of a hat. That’s so uninteresting. And so many actresses are so f**king crazy. They’re emotional wrecks, so they pretend to be these characters. But the emotions aren’t coming from the right place. Do you know what I mean?” The 22 year old star of the Twilight Sagas revealed how she ‘falls to pieces’ when she’s not filming. “I’m like, bursting. I should be working. I don’t want to take a break. It’s funny, on set, I don’t have to go to the bathroom, I don’t have anything wrong, I’m perfectly fine, so through-and-through. I’m not hungry. I’m literally not even in my own body. They wrap and they send me back to my trailer and I f**king fall to pieces. I suddenly realise that I’ve had to pee for six hours. And I’m starving.”

Kristen had a fling with the married director of the Snow White and the Huntsmen film – Rupert Sanders, aged 41, in July while she was between projects and still in a relationship with boyfriend Robert Pattinson. Kristen went on to issue a statement apologising for her ‘momentary indiscretion’ after the pictures of her and Sanders first emerged. It seems that Balenciaga feel she is the perfect face to head up their new campaign, and the blurb describes the scent as. ‘Like Kristen Stewart, Florabotanica is highly contemporary, undeniably beautiful and yet maintains an aura of juvenile recklessness. Notes of veviter, amber and cadmium leaf along with rose, carnation and mint and a spectacular bottle, deliver an enchanting premise like no other.’

Balenciaga say that Florabotanica is an experimental rose that has two architectural notes: a fresh floral facet and a mysterious green facet. The choice of name is to evoke the 18th century botanical gardens in which the most exotic and rarest plant species were displayed, whilst the couture bottle that completes the “Florabotanica” experience features an oversized tube with bold lines which plunges into the floral perfume like a laboratory test tube, looking to capture the secret essence of flowers.

Florabotanica comes in three sizes: 30 ml – $65, 50 ml – $95 and 100 ml – $125.
