According to numerous researches, apple pectin can provide a variety of health benefits. Pectin is actually found in the cell walls and tissues of plants. There was actually a research that was done wherein rats were made to eat diet rich in pectin. It was found out that the cholesterol levels of the rats decreased considerably.

Apple pectin can also be beneficial to the digestive tract. It is a fact that our intestinal tracts is consist of both good and bad bacteria. The good bacteria are needed by our digestive tract to be able to absorb nutrients and digest the food we eat. The good bacteria are also responsible in fighting off the bad bacteria and viruses that can negatively affect our digestive system. Pectin can greatly increase the number of good bacteria compared to the bad bacteria. Actually, a research was done wherein a group of people were asked to eat 2 apples a day for 2 weeks. It was found out that the number of good bacteria in their feces greatly increased while the number of bad bacteria decreases. Therefore, apple pectin can also improve one’s intestinal environment.
