Foundations have come a long way since the pancake type our grannies used to have to put up with. These days’ foundations are packed with ingredients that can reduce wrinkles, stop sun damage, cover dark spots and refine large pores.
From retinol to hyaluronic acid and with the addition of SP protection too, our recommended foundations are not just perfect for achieving a flawless complexion, they will actually help to halt the ageing process too.
Here are eight of our favourite anti-ageing foundations:
Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless 3-in-1 Foundation – $11
This is a collaboration made in heaven, and the result is an amazing product that works and is affordable too. It has a huge following and has been in production for years. It combines two vitamins, B3 and vitamin E, which are powerful anti-ageing ingredients that help to reduce skin damage whilst providing effective cover.
L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift Serum Absolute Advanced Age-Reversing Makeup SPF 17 – $15
A serum-based foundation here that is super-light and packed with anti-ageing ingredients like pro-retinol A and vitamin C which both reduce fine lines and dark patches. It gives a lovely light finish and again is really affordable.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Aging Perfector – $15
Neutrogena are renowned for producing skin-saving products and this one is no exception. A lightweight foundation that contains retinol, a known anti-ageing ingredient, and covers fine lines and wrinkles beautifully. Retinol works to boost your skins’ natural collagen production so you are covering up any blemishes whilst your foundation is working hard to heal your skin.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation – $43
This award-winning product was developed specifically for film and TV’s most advanced technology – ultra high definition, so it has to be good. It creates a flawless complexion that shows no blemishes even under the harshest of 4K lenses. This is thanks to the unique pigments that give a natural finish which contain hyaluronic spheres and now comes in 40 shades, so you are sure to find your exact match.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation SPF 15 – $44
It was the sheer amount of anti-ageing ingredients packed into this anti-ageing foundation that drew us to consider Charlotte Tilbury’s product. We think she was right to name it magic, as it contains, amongst many others, hyaluronic acid to plump up the skin and mushroom extract to tighten it. Gives a lovely lightweight finish too.
Estée Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Serum Makeup SPF 25 – $48
You get exactly the same anti-ageing ingredients in this foundation as you do in Estée Lauder’s classic Perfectionist serum. This is one of the best anti-ageing foundations for women who need a lot of coverage as it delivers medium to heavy finish with a satin formula that will stay put all day.
Clarins Extra-Comfort Anti-Aging Foundation SPF 15 – $63
This is one of our most expensive anti-ageing foundations but if you don’t really like the feel on them on your skin it is worth forking out the extra money as you won’t even know this is on. A super-light finish that is packed with skin-firming Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract alongside hydrating argan oil that smooths away wrinkles and fine lines.
Giorgio Armani Beauty Designer Lift Smoothing Firming Foundation SPF 20 – $67
This is a great anti-ageing foundation if you worry about sagging jowls and jawlines, as the ingredients in it are perfect for lifting and tightening up. It contains micro-pearl pigments to give skin a truly radiant glow and it also contains SPF 20.
