Alternative Accommodation for the London 2012 Olympics

If you haven’t already booked your hotel accommodation for the London 2012 Olympics and were hoping to nab some last-minute cheap deals, then be prepared to be let down. For even the budget hotels have seriously raised the cost of room rates for the eight weeks during the Olympics. Typically during a non Olympic week you could have got a nights stay in one of the chain hotels for around £50 to £80 but prices have rocketed to Olympic Gold standards of anything between £250 a night and £360. The London Olympic Games run from July 27th to August 12th and are mainly situated in the Olympic Park, which is located in Stratford, East London. As hotel bookings are mostly full and any that have vacancies are likely to be overcharging, it is time to think about alternative accommodation. There are many websites that have sprung up over the last few years that offer private rooms in people’s houses on a short term basis for renting and luckily a great many feature accommodation in London. You can rent a room for a day or a week, choose your location and price and lots of rooms start from around £50 a night. To get the best from these websites you need to be searching for rooms in London that are in the East of London, around the West Ham or Hackney districts to ensure you are close enough to the Olympic Park. Here are a few of the best sites offering alternative accommodation:
