Christine Bleakley Releases Fitness DVD – The Workout
Is it me, or, do you agree, that as soon as a minorish celebrity’s career seems to be on the skids somewhat, they release a fitness dvd? It appears to be the last chance saloon kind of showbiz trick up a celebrity’s arsenal, a frantic final grab at fame before pantomime appearances or a spell on Big Brother beckons. But wait, could it be that this particular fitness dvd has something extra to offer? Some new titbits of exercise techniques that no other celebrity has developed? A fantastic novel routine that will burn off those pesky flabby bits that have accumulated over the festive season? Well, not exactly.
The idea for the dvd actually sprang from her non celebrity sister – Nicola, after she lost an amazing seven stone in weight. An incredible achievement in itself I’m sure you’d agree. But what bugs me about these kind of dvds is, why don’t they show the larger ladies before they have lost the weight? Instead of having some lithe creature flouncing around on a yoga mat in front of you, surely it would be far more encouraging to show the before and after ‘journey’ of the losing of the weight? Wouldn’t we all like to have seen Nicola when she was seven stone heavier, progressing through her dvd exercise routines, steadily losing the weight, then we could really get inspiration from the exercises, knowing that they do in fact really work. But I digress. More about the dvd you ask.
The two sisters are joined by an equally lithe Maria Fenn, a personal trainer no less, who it is said, put the whole dvd together. So I am wondering what input the Bleakley sisters have, if any, towards the making of this dvd apart from doing the exercises in it and Nicola’s (albeit inspiring) weight loss story? Did Nicola actually do these very same exercises that are on the dvd in order to achieve her dramatic weight loss? Or could it be that as Christine was unceremoniously dropped from the early morning news show Daybreak, and as yet, has not started filming for Dancing On Ice so cannot judge what public opinion of her replacing the ever popular Holly Willoughby will be, thought she had better get some more irons in the fire?
For those of you that are interested, this dvd is designed to build up your fitness level, sculpt your body and help you lose weight by using revolutionary techniques such as plyometrics and interval training. Divided into two sections, it gives you the freedom to either do the whole DVD or create your own programme. Section one includes Arm Sculptor, Core Cruncher and Legs & Bum Transformer. Section two features routines such as advanced training session, the Bleakley Blaster and the Kick Butt Interval Training workout, one of the most effective fat burning training methods.
