Summer has finally arrived and we’re feeling, well, summery. We know how unreliable the British summer can be though so, to make sure we have a little sunshine in our lives, even when the rain is falling, we’ve put together a round-up of our favourite yellow appliances. They’re sure to leave you in a sunny frame of mind…
High-end appliance maker Smeg is renowned for its iconic retro-style fridges. And this daffodil-hued number is sure to prove a stand-out attraction in any kitchen. How could you fail to be cheerful each morning if you’re taking your milk out of this unique appliance? And, not only does it look good, it has an automatic defrost, which melts any ice build-up away, and there’s a 22-litre frozen food compartment if you want to stock up on your favourite ice cream on days that are as sunny as your fridge. RRP £949.
It almost looks as if you should be twiddling its dials to find your favourite FM radio station. But Morphy Richards gizmo is actually designed to provide you with the perfectly toasted slice of bread or bagel for your breakfast. With four slots, it should be big enough to feed the hungriest family in the morning and, most importantly, it’s bright and it’s cheerful. RRP £49.99.
While sunshine streaming through our windows can be enough to wake us up in the morning, there are many times that only a hit of caffeine will do. At £535, Ascaso’s gizmo certainly isn’t cheap, but this Dream Versatile model would be the unmistakeable star of the kitchen. Handcrafted in Spain, it will turn even the most amateur coffee maker into a veritable barista.
While range ovens are the most traditional of cooking appliances, it doesn’t mean the colour you choose has to be conventional. A range oven is the stand out piece in any kitchen and choosing a vibrant yellow will ensure it is even more attention grabbing. The Richmond 110cm model in first bloom yellow has four generously sized ovens, which should keep even the most demanding of cooks – and their diners – happy.
There’s something distinctly retro about KitchenAid’s mixers. They remind us of making cupcakes with our mum, licking the leftover mixture from the spoon. This model, in yellow pepper, is sleek, simplistic and stylish, so would suit any kitchen, whether modern or traditional. At £420, however, it’s probably one for only the keenest of home bakers.
With its unique pyramid shape and chrome styling, this kettle looks as if it could be a designer piece. But it’s actually on sale from BHS at the moment, for £25. With rapid boil, it should be ready for you to make a cup of tea in super-fast time, as well as adding a pop of eye-catching colour.
Whichever appliance you opt for, choosing yellow makes a real statement, bringing some sunshine into your kitchen.
