(Tetrapeptide-21) in Superdrug’s B. Flawless Targeted Wrinkle Filler
It’s the worst kept secret in Hollywood, and A List actresses will pay over the odds for a B.Flawless – targeted wrinkle filler tube that contains the magical ingredient. But now we can reveal that budget High Street retailer Superdrug has unveiled their latest product, and it contains this magic anti-aging ingredient that is used in many Hollywood beauty products.
I’m talking about the compound Tetrapeptide-21, which is regularly found in expensive anti-aging creams and lotions, as experts claim it is the key to more youthful looking skin. Now Superdrug have included it in their B. Flawless Targeted Wrinkle Filler, which costs a very reasonable £9.99.
The ‘B’ in the name stands for ‘B is for Beautiful’ and Superdrug have launched a whole brand new range of anti-aging skin care products and makeup for all ages and types of skin. You can visit their website where there is a helpful skin diagnostic tool to help you determine your own skin type.
Beauty products that contain Tetrapeptide-21 are typically in high-end expensive products such as StriVectin, in which prices range from $59 for an eye concentrate cream, to $135 for stretch marks lotion, and Philosophy, with costs for their Miracle Worker Moisturisers starting at $58 and Anti-aging Retinoid Pads and Solution for $73. By far one of the most expensive anti aging creams however, is 3Lab Super ‘h’ Serum which retails at $320 a pot.
And although these price tags seem a tad high to us normal gals, celebrity A listers appear to swear by them, with likes of Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron and our very own Dame Helen Mirren reportedly using these brands.
Thankfully for us, this new cheaper version is now available on the high street, and Superdrug say that in trials using B. Flawless Targeted Wrinkle Filler, results showed that when applied in the eye area, the appearance of crows feet was reduced by nine per cent if used daily for 28 days.
The way Tetrapeptide-21 works is that it stimulates the body to produce more collagen, which skin begins to lack as it ages. It is a kind of ‘polyfilla’ for the skin, as it can plump out sagging areas and make fine lines and wrinkles appear less defined. There are many peptides on the market that help in the fight against aging, but Tetrapeptide-21 is thought to be one of the most effective. It is also one of the most expensive to produce, and as such, this has caused a delay in adding it to more affordable brands.
However, thanks to the manufacturers who want to launch in Europe, as well as smart advertising by Superdrug, the anti-aging ingredient is now available in B. Flawless Targeted Wrinkle Filler.
Ian Baynes, a skincare expert from Fleet Laboratories, said yesterday: “Tetrapeptide-21 works by making you skin behave as if it were several years younger. It gives it a kick-start to produce more collagen and behave like it did maybe 10 years ago. So basically what we’re doing is turning back the clock and reversing the signs of aging by making your body behave as it did 10 years earlier. It is still a relatively new anti-aging ingredient, 2009 I think, and it takes a while for things to filter down to the high street. It was very expensive but the cost has dropped slightly which makes it more accessible.”
