Beautiful Gardens in New Build Homes

New build homes tend to come with a standard garden – a plain square of turf with not much to it other than the grass lain by the builders. However, there’s nothing to say that that unassuming bit of earth can’t be beautiful. In fact, it’s better to look at new build gardens as a blank canvass ready to be designed the way that you want.

More often than not, new build gardens will be quite small, and sometimes even without grass but there’s still plenty of potential there, whether you want to take on the project yourself. Many of the best new home gardens benefit from lush grass, with plants and flowers in order to maximise space and keep the garden looking healthy, colourful and vibrant.

Regularly pruning the plants in order to keep them trim and shaped is popular at the moment, so it’s a good idea to have a variety of shapes and sizes, though in the small gardens usually found in new build homes it could easily become cluttered or overcrowded. As they are often surrounded by fences and are overlooked by other buildings, which can be a gloomy and oppressive sight for anyone.  The best new build gardens work around this problem by using plants in order to minimise the closed off effect and make an attractive border. These gardens are more based on nature, with heavy emphasis on greenery and wildlife. These gardens are a great contrast for more urbanised areas, and can often be havens to wildlife with the right choice of plants, so it’s a great design for nature lovers.

Alternatively, there’s the more urban style, which takes a unique and contemporary approach to landscaping within the confined space of a new build property.  For example, less grass and the use of gravel and patio is a low-maintenance and attractive way to keep a new build garden. The minimalist look is incredibly popular and continues to endure to this day, and is great for those that want an attractive garden but don’t necessarily have the time or patience to maintain it. This style tends to use plants individually chosen to emphasise boldness, and employs specific colour schemes in order to make a statement, whether it be cool and calm or strong and striking.

Complemented with excellent lighting to draw attention to specific focal points, landscapers can have a lot of fun with this style, and it has plenty of potential for unique and personal design.

Ultimately it all comes down to personal taste, but there are many options to consider when it comes to a new build garden, and these are options that refuse to be limited by the small, confined spaces of such. What matters, most landscapers will tell you, is that the environment is used to the best of its advantage. The garden must be right for its location, and equally important is that it’s right for you. A lack of space doesn’t result in a lack of innovation.
