Lantern Centerpieces for Fall Weddings
Lanterns are a wonderful choice for fall wedding centerpieces. They add a warm glow and rustic elegance to any reception. Discover some of the many ways in which lanterns can be used to create gorgeous fall wedding centerpieces.
Surrounded With Flowers: One of the prettiest lantern centerpiece ideas is to choose a rustic wrought iron or bronze colored lantern and surround it with fresh flowers. Seasonal mums, sunflowers, leaves, and berries look wonderful piled around the base of the glowing candle holder. You could even add in some vegetables like artichokes for a surprising element and a fun texture. This design is great for any autumn reception.
Inside a Wreath: A more formal variation on loosely surrounding a closed lantern with piled up blossoms is to use a footed hurricane lantern and place it inside a table wreath. This would be very elegant for a more traditional event or an evening reception. Roses in classic autumn colors like orange and cranberry red look stunning in the wreath. Or if you prefer a more romantic color palette for all of your wedding elements like the bridesmaid dresses, custom jewelry, bouquets, and so forth, go with dusty purple flowers instead. They will still suit the season, but have a softer effect.
On a Burlap Table Runner: For long family style dinner tables, it looks fantastic to arrange lanterns down the center of the table on a burlap runner. Choose several different sizes of lanterns for variety and visual interest. They can be grouped in clusters of two or three down the length of the dining tables. Between the lanterns, sprinkle fall leaves, pine cones, or other natural elements. Another beautiful idea is to use strands of wired red glass berries twining around the lantern bases and flowing down the runner. The glass berries will reflect the flicker of the candles, almost like your crystal bridal jewelry does. It creates a beautiful ambiance.
Elevated on Boxes: Another great lantern centerpiece design is to place the candle holders on low rustic wooden boxes. The elevation will look terrific, especially if you use two different sizes of lanterns on each table. Arrange miniature pumpkins and mums around the base of the boxes for color. If you prefer a more modern take on the fall lantern centerpiece idea, place square lanterns inside low clear trays with sides. Fill the trays with cranberries or acorns and nestle a lantern with an ivory candle inside each one. The wonderful thing about designing your centerpieces around lanterns is that they are so lovely you really can’t go wrong.
