Using Social Media Tools To Plan Your Wedding

Social media can be an immense help when planning weddings. There is so much to do that needs organizing, so many people to stay in contact with and so many things to find that social media can turn crazy days out running around into a few hours in front of a computer screen, in the comfort of home, perhaps with the future spouse.

Pinterest

There is a variety of ways that Pinterest can be helpful when planning a wedding. This social picture bookmarking site allows users to grab photos from the web and share them on bulletin board style pages. These pages can be organized according to whatever criteria the user wants. Therefore, there can be a possible venues page, a flower arrangements page, a caterer’s page and much more. Share these pages with friends so they can help narrow down the choices. This limits the trips to locations. Florists, photographers and caterers sometimes make house calls as well, so contact them online and possibly never leave the house to book those thanks to social media.

Social Bookmarking

Pinterest is helpful for things that require a visual aspect. When it comes to linking full websites, it is a bit clunky, as many users have a hard time figuring out how to access sites through the photos. Other social bookmarking sites allow simple link layouts. Sharing with family and friends is the same concept. It just allows sharing on a more comprehensive level for things like finding a DJ, booking hotels, travel and more.

Facebook

Facebook can be invaluable when it comes to planning a wedding. Oftentimes, entire families are already using the site. Users can make use of their existing profiles, create event pages, create discussion pages and much more. One can create an event page for the wedding, add all of the necessary information and even send out invites through that page. The maid of honour and best man can plan bridal parties, bachelor parties and bachelorette parties this way as well, thanks to the privacy options that can block out the guests of honour.

Reviews

Social media has created a mass of business reviews on countless sites. This allows couples to simply search for potential vendors and read what previous customers had to say about them. Couples no longer have to rely on the word of these companies. From photographers to valets, the Internet has people with opinions on it and they can be very helpful and save loads of money.

Couples who are planning weddings should take the time to set up a few pages online or get a friend who is helping to do it. This streamlines communication and searches. It makes it easy to pit ideas against each other side by side. Sure, wedding cakes will still need tasting, dresses will still need fitting, but bakeries prone to failure and boutiques with horrible selection will be ruled out before the tasting and fitting begins.
