World Champion Swimmer Mark Foster Endorses Wellman Sport Supplements
Mark Foster must be anticipating the excitement the Olympic athletes are feeling right now, afterall, he is the 6 times World Champion, 10 times European Champion, 8 times World Record Holder and 2 times Commonwealth Champion. But it wasn’t so long ago that he himself was competing in World Championships and preparing to race against his peers. In his preparations, Foster would take a particular supplement, Wellman, in order to maximise the food he was eating. Mark Foster is still the world’s fastest man in water, and his disciplines were the freestyle and butterfly 50m sprints. These have a relatively short distance over which he has to compete, and it is this that dictates his training regime, with a particular emphasis on upper body strength and maximum power output. Mark says, “In a 50m race, I’m only actually swimming for just over 20 seconds, so my training regime is designed to build lots of power, especially in the upper body which provides about 85% of total energy output in the sprints. In training, I target my shoulders, triceps and lats, but avoid excessive muscle bulk which reduces the streamline qualities of the body.”
Mark adds, “The 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly events are all about power. But of course power comes at the expense of energy, and I therefore need to ensure that my body is converting the food I eat into energy as efficiently as possible. Wellman helps me to maintain optimum energy release as it provides the whole family of b vitamins including B3 – needed by the body for the production of the enzymes NAD and NADP, which are essential for the efficient release of energy from digested food. Wellman tablet formulation also provides 2mg of C0-enzyme Q10 and 30mg of L-Carnitine – both of which help to maintain lean muscle mass.” Here are two of the products that Mark Foster uses.
A comprehensive formulation of over 29 essential bio-elements, Wellman® has been specially developed to help maintain general health and vitality in men of all ages. Built for men who want to help achieve optimum sports potential, safeguard reproductive health, or help maintain health in an otherwise hectic and demanding lifestyle, Wellman® represents a simple, no-fuss solution. The advanced one-a-day tablets formula provides the nutrients a man may need to help maintain energy release, make the critical difference in reactions, speed and mental alertness, or to help maintain reproductive health. Wellman® is different from a regular multivitamin / mineral in that each nutrient level has been individually optimised for men’s health on the basis of international research evidence. This means that some nutrients are provided at levels above the Recommended Daily Allowance. So while Wellman® provides a core resource of all the major vitamins and minerals, it also provides more than 100% of certain nutrients, plus additional ginseng, amino acids, Co-enzyme Q10 and L-Carnitine. Even minor nutritional deficiencies can have an adverse effect on speed, power, energy or endurance during exercise. Antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, are thought to be especially important in endurance athletes. This is because antioxidants help protect against the increased production of free radicals which occurs during aerobic exercise.
Providing support when working out: Specific micronutrients to help support the body while training, like L-Carnitine and the plant isolate Octacosanol which is often used by athletes to help support a lean body mass. L-Carnitine is used by the body to burn fatty acids into energy and assist in electron transport in cell mitochondria. Octacosanol is believed to perform a number of beneficial actions in the body such as assisting the body’s ability to use oxygen which muscles need during exercise to perform and recover. Octacosanol may support muscle function by preventing the build up of lactic acid and increasing the body’s ability to store glucose as muscle glycogen. Buy here.
