A big, white wedding is every little girl’s dream and at the centre, the dress. Over the years we have seen our favourite celebrities and royals wed in the most beautiful ceremonies and their dresses have become the most famous wedding dresses around. From the iconic dress the late princess Diana wore to the recent one worn by Kate Middleton to a Spice Girl and even a Twilight starlet, we look at the most famous wedding dresses in all their grandeur and we dream of the time when we too, will don the fairytale dress for our big day.

Grace Kelly’s famous wedding dress

This immensely elegant lady wore one of the most famous wedding dresses that fitted perfectly to her persona and graceful demeanour. The iconic dress was designed by Helen Rose; it was classic and traditional with an old century design while still being incredibly feminine. The designer used 100 yards of silk and 25 yards of taffeta to create the exquisite wedding dress. It was all tied together harmoniously with a fitted bodice with a flower pattern on soft lace.

We understand that this is indeed a fictional wedding but we must say that the costume designers hit the nail right on the head with this absolutely beautiful wedding dress that has now become one of the most famous dresses around. In the most recent Twilight franchise, the main characters wed in a magical setting but the wedding dress was the main attraction. It was a greatly elegant and feminine dress comprised of crepe satin and French Chantilly lace. On the back of the dress, buttons flow down from the neckline to the hemline and a section of the back is exposed with a light lace pattering covering the exposed section.

Catherine Zeta-Jones’ wedding dress

This renowned actress married Michael Douglas in 2000 and people are still talking about her stunning dress which has become one of the most famous wedding dresses. Catherine dazzled in a Christian Lacroix creation worth $1.5 million. The famous wedding dress had a 6-foot long train and was embroidered with an array of diamonds; only the finest quality silk thread was used.

Princess Diana’s famous wedding dress

This has to be one of the most famous wedding dresses of all time and was a mass of pure opulence. It was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel and had a 25-foot train. The famous wedding dress was adorned with crafted laces, ivory silk taffetas, and more than 10,000 pearls and sequins making it dazzling when the cameras went off. It is said to still be the most expensive wedding dress in the world with an undisclosed amount being paid for the amazing creation.

Victoria Beckham’s famous wedding dress

Victoria and David Beckham have become the quintessential British, celebrity couple so it was only obvious that their wedding and her most famous wedding dress were at centre stage. Victoria’s classic wedding dress has become one of the most famous around and the strapless ensemble was designed by Vera Wang.  It was a satin, meringue styled wedding dress in a champagne colour.
