Highlights of Dubai
Dubai is a fascinating and exhilarating city that has grown at breakneck speed over the last few years to become one of the world’s leading holiday destinations. As soon as you get there you’ll be amazed at how this wonderful city has grown out of nothing in the middle of nowhere and at how it now rivals anywhere in the world. If you are lucky enough to visit Dubai, then it is recommended you include the following highlights in your trip:
The Mall of the Emirates – This is possibly the world’s craziest mall, which sits somewhere between a shopping mall and Disneyland. As well as shops and rides there is even an indoor ski slope boasting real snow! This mall has to be seen to be believed.
The World’s Tallest Hotel – This hotel has become world-famous in recent years and its distinctive sail shape can be seen adorning the front of thousands of holiday magazines. The hotel Burj Al Arab sits right on the seafront and is one of the world’s most luxurious hotels. It’s not cheap, but it is worth seeing and if possible eating in the restaurant. Book a table next to the window and make sure you take your camera – the views are incredible! If you don’t want to eat there, simply get a ticket to head up to the observation deck.
Al Dhiyafah Road – If you don’t want to blow big bucks on the Burj Al Arab hotel restaurant then just as interesting is a trip to the Al Dhiyafah Road where all of the locals eat. This is a street packed with incredible smells and sights and any of the restaurants along here will serve up a fantastic and well=priced evening meal.
Dubai Waterparks – Dubai has three world-class water parks for visitors to go and cool down in. There is the Wild Wadi Water Park, the Atlantic Waterpark and the Aquaventure Water Park. All are great value and offer the usual array of water themed entertainment and rides.
The Gold Souk – Perhaps no experience is more thrilling and fun in Dubai than going to buy gold jewelry at the Gold Souk. That’s because you are expected to haggle on the price, which makes it more about the buying process than the thing you are buying.
The Palm Jumeirah – The world famous man-made island that is the shape of a palm tree. This is one of those sights that looks absolutely magnificent from the plane as you fly in to Dubai – and the beaches on the island are all picture perfect up close too.
Jumeirah Beach – An absolutely stunning beach, with golden sand and gentle crystal clear water lapping at your feet. Fall asleep to the waves, go for a walk along the sand or have a dip in the water. You can even take a camel ride along the beach.
The Grand Mosque – a massive, impressive mosque with no less than nine huge domes. This is an impressive spectacle during the day, but at night it is awe-inspiring when it is lit up and can be seen from miles around.
Bastakia – Head to the Bastakia quarter of the city for a slice of history and a walk through ancient restored houses and beautiful restaurants. An artistic and bohemian quarter.
Swimming with Dolphins – Lastly, while on holiday in Dubai make sure you take the time to head to Dolphin Bay and experience the magic of swimming with dolphins there. Beautiful.
